Nanaimo Massage Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a doctor's referral to book a massage?

No, you do not need a doctor's referral to book a massage at 3 Cedars Wellness. However, some extended health benefit plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your plan details first.

Is direct billing available?

Yes, we offer direct billing for most major insurance providers. We can bill your insurance company directly to help you avoid out-of-pocket expenses. Please have your policy information ready for your first appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

For your massage, you can wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Your comfort and privacy are our top priorities. Your therapist will step out of the room to allow you to undress to your level of comfort and get on the table under a sheet.

What happens during my first visit?

Your first visit will begin with a brief health history and an assessment of your condition with your therapist. This helps us understand your needs and create a personalized treatment plan. The rest of the time will be used for your hands-on massage treatment.

How long is a typical appointment?

Our appointments are 60 minutes long, but your therapist can help you determine the best duration for your specific concerns.

Do you accept ICBC or WCB claims?

At this time, we do not accept ICBC or WCB claims. All payments will be made privately, and we can provide you with a receipt to submit to a private insurance provider if needed.

What is the difference between a relaxation and a therapeutic massage?

A relaxation massage uses lighter pressure to help you de-stress and unwind. A therapeutic massage is often more focused on a specific issue, using deeper pressure and techniques to treat muscle tension, chronic pain, or injuries.

What if I feel unwell on the day of my appointment?

For the health and safety of our clients and staff, if you are experiencing any symptoms of illness, please reschedule your appointment. We have a flexible cancellation policy for last-minute illness.

Can I receive a massage if I am pregnant?

Yes! Massage can be incredibly beneficial during pregnancy. We have pregnancy pillows and our therapists are trained to provide a safe and comfortable experience for expectant mothers.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. A cancellation fee may be applied for missed appointments or late cancellations. We understand that emergencies happen and will work with you if an unexpected situation arises.
